The Empress Tree, (also known as Royal Paulownia), was named after Anna Paulownia, daughter of Czar Paul of Russia. Famous for it's incredible growth rate and regal beauty.

In spring-time you will enjoy the spectacular show of lush, lavender blossoms sprouting in giant clusters. These bountiful flowers look like cascading orchids... filling the air with a delicate, perfume-like aroma.

Exotic leaves shade your home during the hot months, then drop in the Fall, allowing sunlight through when it's needed most.

Your neighbors and children will be fascinated by the first year growth rate of up to 10 feet or more. We have seen many grow over 20 feet in one season. A two-year-old tree can offer a great deal of shade. A three-year-old tree offers substantial shade. Eventually your tree can reach reach 30 to 50 feet.

We routinely hear stories of  old growth Empress trees being worth thousands of dollars. These  Empress trees are one of the most valuable hardwoods grown in the US.  Much of this wood is shipped to Japan where they revere Empress for it's beauty and pay large sums for it.

Traditionally, when a Japanese couple have a daughter, they plant an Empress tree. When the daughter is ready to marry, they cut down the tree and make a cabinet and other items out of it for a wedding gift. Empress trees are believed to bring good luck.

Easy to grow in almost any soil... they shoot up quickly with a little fertilizer and pruning. In fact you can control the height you want by easily pruning off sprouting lower branches.

Empress trees prefer well-drained areas with plenty of sunshine. Avoid wetland or standing water.

Just add water and you will be amazed at the fast growth. It resists temperatures down to -10 degrees F.

Empress Trees are drought resistant once established. Their roots tend to go deep into the ground in search of water, rather than on the surface. This makes planting around the tree easy and makes it friendlier to nearby walkways or fixtures.

Unlike some fast growth trees that have short life spans, a healthy Empress Tree can live for 80 to 100 years.

"Don't put your face over it or you may get a mouthful of leaves."

Jimmy Carter- Former President and Commercial Empress Tree Grower, discussing the trees fast growth.
